The “Grouse Grind” is a notoriously demanding trail that climbs Grouse Mountain, one of the beautiful Pacific Mountains that grace Vancouver’s North Shore. Nick-named “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster”, “Grouse Grind” climbs 2,800 ft. in 2.9 km. (1.8 mi.) through dense forest. Locals and tourists alike – no matter the level of their individual fitness – flock to the “Grind”: NOT a good idea! If you are not fit; do NOT try this trail. It takes close to 2 hrs. for experienced hikers to climb it and inexperienced hikers can and do get into quite, quite serious difficulties. Besides, there’s a perfectly fine chair-lift that will whoosh you to the top of Grouse Mountain in minutes!!
